As one of her first official engagements since being elected Amanda Martin, the new MP for Portsmouth North, joined local people in celebrating our cities diversity at the annual Portsmouth Pride event this weekend.
Amanda joined local stakeholders and volunteers aboard the pride bus, met with lots of our city’s fantastic local organisations and businesses to hear about the work they are doing in our community and thanked the volunteers for organising another brilliant event.
Amanda Martin MP said:
“The diversity and passion of our city goes from strength to strength, it was a privilege to join the celebrations. I’m proud the new Labour government will stand up for LGBT+ people and have already committed to tackling hate crime, banning conversion therapy in all its forms, modernising the GRA, ending new cases of HIV, tackling homelessness and improving mental health support.
There is always more to do, and I’ll champion the voices of local people in Westminster, to make that happen.
I also want to thank the team of volunteers who make this event happen every year. They have done our city proud and I’d like to thank them for all of their hard work, alongside their normal day jobs, towards making today the success that it was.”
