Amanda Martin, MP for Portsmouth North, will be taking fundraising to new heights this Saturday as she abseils down the iconic Spinnaker Tower in support of local youth charity Motiv8.
Amanda will take on the challenge on Saturday 4th July, with the descent beginning from 9:00am, to help raise vital funds for Motiv8, which works with young people across Portsmouth and the surrounding area to build confidence, resilience and brighter futures.
Local residents and supporters are invited to come along from 8:30am to cheer Amanda on as she tackles one of Portsmouth’s most recognisable landmarks.
Donations are still being accepted through Amanda’s fundraising page, with every penny going towards supporting Motiv8’s work with young people.
Amanda Martin MP said: “I’m incredibly proud to be supporting Motiv8 and the amazing work they do for young people across our city. They make such a difference to so many lives, so if dangling off the side of the Spinnaker Tower helps raise a bit more money, then it’s absolutely worth it!”
“A huge thank you to Becky from Spark Community Space, who was the person to sign me up! Anyone who knows Becky knows once you agree to something, you can’t back out without some serious explaining to do! So, Becky, this one’s your fault… if I’m looking terrified halfway down, I’ll be blaming you!”
“I’d love as many people as possible to come along on Saturday morning to cheer me on. If you can spare a few pounds to support Motiv8, or simply come and laugh, I mean, offer encouragement from the ground, I’d be incredibly grateful.”
