Portsmouth high streets should be safe, vibrant places for families and local businesses. But dodgy vape shops, cowboy barbers and fake American candy stores are undermining honest traders and damaging our communities.
I’m calling on the Government to give councils and trading standards more powers and resources to crack down on rogue traders and protect our high streets. Back my calls by adding your name here:

It would be great to see these shops removed and give small business with more variety a chance. There are now 5 Turkish barbers in Cosham and 3 in Drayton!
Please keep working to improve our city centre. It’s not a place that is attractive to visit, I don’t feel particularly safe there and basically if we want to shop for fairly basic non food items – clothes, gifts etc, we go to Chichester, Southampton or even Brighton or London. I resent living in a city where I feel I have to drive or get the train to get some decent shops and a pleasant environment. I really would rather spend my money locally but on what and where?
The number of so called convenience stores on Cosham High Street is ridiculous as are barbers and vape shops.. there are always men standing outside smoking and blocking the pavement
